The 2008 presidential election has turned me into a political junkie.
It’s not that I didn’t care about past elections. It’s just that I’ve always been more interested in stories about common people rather than those of the uncommon variety, as most presidential possibles tend to be.
But this year has presented a fascinating contrast between Barack Obama and John McCain, and when you throw Joe “Faux Pas” Biden and Sarah “Hockey Mom” Palin in there, it’s been almost unbearably interesting.
And at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, the third and final debate between John McCain and Barack Obama will take place.
Will this be McCain’s last stand?
Will Obama finally lose his cool?
Will a moderator’s head finally explode?
Anybody who is interested in joining me in a Kane County Chronicle chat about the debate should visit our Web site at http://www.kcchronicle.com during the debate.
I hosted a chat last week during the second debate, and in case you couldn’t make it, you missed out on some great comments such as:
· “Has anyone else noticed that the Obama team is nailing the opening coin toss?”
· “The nailing Jell-O to the wall comment by McCain was a classic. Love that imagery! Talk about your modern art!”
· “Both McCain and Obama need to do a better job of selling nuclear energy. America isn’t for or against it, they only can connect it to fish with three eyes and Chernobyl.”
All in all, it was a good time.
And we’re hoping to have an even better time this Wednesday in Episode III of the presidential debate. I hope you can be there.
