Every community is filled with niches.
There are book lovers and shoppers and parents and sports fanatics and foodies and seniors and news junkies. The list goes on.
What we hope to accomplish with our upcoming redesign is to fill these niches.
We’re like a genie in a lamp, but rather than wish fulfillment, we’re going to be your source for niche fulfillment.
Along those lines, we’re planning to unveil a few new special features in mid-March.
But there are few of us and many of you. A community newspaper is only as strong as the community support it receives.
We’re not too proud to beg. We want your support. We need your support. Together, we can create a wonderful community newspaper.
Here are a few initial things we’re looking for help with:
Reader’s recipes: Have a fantastic recipe you would like to share with your neighbors? Or even a middling one? I’ll start it off.
Bachelor’s Pasta: (though I’m no longer a bachelor, I still enjoy making this for myself on nights my wife and I get home from work late)
– 1/2 box of spaghetti
– Forkful of butter
– Six or so green olives
Cook your spaghetti for about 10 minutes. Do not get caught up reading a book while waiting. You will burn the spaghetti. Drain your spaghetti and put it a bowl. Stir in your forkful of butter. Throw in six or so green olives. Voila!
If you have a recipe you would like to share, please e-mail it to me with your name, hometown and phone number so we can confirm it’s you at email@example.com.
Club news: We would like to begin highlighting some of our are clubs. If you’re interested in your club being spotlighted, please e-mail me at at the above address.
Columnists: We’re looking for a few good columnists who can write about things happening in our communities. We do not want people writing about national news or celebrities or anything else that I could read about through either CNN or Perez Hilton. We’re looking for people who are in touch with their community and have something worthwhile to say about them. Again, those interested can e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Those are just a few of the ideas that we need immediate help with. There will be more forthcoming. And if you have an idea of your own, please don’t hesitate to e-mail me with it.
